The purpose of the fund is to provide Brady and his family funds to recoup medical costs from being airlifted to Stanford hospital, and help with ongoing expenses, since Brady will be off work a minimum of 6 months! Brady had had some minor illnesses and aches and pains since his 40th birthday in March. He thought “he was getting old” and continued to work as an RN at Enloe Hospital and care for his 3 children. On Saturday, June 10th, Brady was at a bookstore, and became short of breath with chest pain. At the Enloe Emergency Room, doctors feared a heart attack, but a CT scan showed 2 very large masses in his chest— one pushing on his heart, and the other, or his airway! He was taken by air ambulance ( not covered by insurance) to the wonderful Stanford hospital in Pleasanton. He had an amazing medical team, and was diagnosed with Stage 3 DLBCL NON- Hodgkins lymphoma. While hospitalized, he struggled with a heart arrhythmia, but was able to receive his first dose of chemotherapy. Brady is home now, taking the tons of medications you would expect, the keep nausea and infection at bay. His treatment plan will be 6 rounds of chemo, spaced 3 weeks apart. Brady is determined to beat this thing— he desperately loves Delores, his fiancé, Robert and Ranni, his 5 year old twins, and his soon to be son, Alex, age 12. Needless to say, our heads are spinning, but we know that cancer is expensive! We want the children to still be able to participate in their sports and swimming lessons. Please send any words of encouragement and keep the family in your thoughts and prayers! Love, the Hicks family
