Hi all!
Our good friend, Jessica, is a hard working, single mother of three beautiful children: Brady age 12, Decker age 2, and Brooklyn age 1. About 8 months ago Jessica noticed a drastic change in Bradys appearance and brought this to the attention of his pediatrician. Brady’s parents and his doctors developed a medical plan they felt was best for Brady. The medical plan they had set in place wasn’t working as well as anticipated and unfortunately right before Christmas 2019 Brady was admitted to Children’s Hospital where they intubated him with a feeding tube and constantly monitored his vitals. Brady was at children’s for 2 weeks and returned home right before New Years. Brady’s parents and medical team have decided the best thing for Brady now that he has been discharged from Children’s is to enroll him into UCSD Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research. This is a very intensive outpatient treatment where Brady will go Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Bradys parents are required to attend sessions 13+ hours per week. Brady’s case manager believes he will likely be in this program for 12-15 weeks.
Here’s where we need your help! Fortunately Brady’s medical insurance covers most of the expenses, they however, do not cover it all. For the past 8 months, and even more so in the past 6 weeks, Jessicas employers have graciously allowed her to deviate from her traditional schedule to be with Brady as she does not have any PTO/Vacation pay left at this time. She has been diligently working with Brady and the medical team assisting him to ensure Brady is receiving the BEST care out there all while still raising two small children (Irish twins) at home and holding down a full time job. In addition to the aforementioned, Jessica is a type 1 diabetic so it’s imperative that she take care of herself too so that she is healthy and able to care for her children.
Here’s what we know right now regarding expenses. UCSD’s daily out of pocket expense is $40, however please keep in mind there will be many more expenses- for example: transportation expenses, childcare expenses for smaller children, potential lost wages, special meals for Brady, etc.
Jessica is a hard working, humble mama and did not want to ask for donations, which is why we (Brandy and Danielle) have decided to take the reins and do it for her. Nobody likes to ask for help but every kid deserves the best care and to also have their parents there along side them- healthy and stress free. Jess will continue to do whatever she needs to do to ensure Brady continues to receive the care he needs but we would like to assist with any medical expenses and any additional expenses they incur during this difficult time for their family.
We have set a limit of $3000 at this time and will adjust it if and when needed. No donation is too small and if you can not afford to donate please share this link.
Lastly, should you want to contribute outside of Go Fund Me please contact Brandy Burmeister or Danielle Flowers for more details.
