Hi my name is Leslie and I am fundraising for my husband Brad, a wheelchair accessible van outfitted with a lift, recliner, fold-down table and a fold down bed when his blood pressure drops.

Brad a healthy fit retired firefighter from Alameda County and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory was stricken with a fast moving and debilitating very rare disease called “Multiple System Atrophy—Parkinsonism.” It robbed him of his ability to enjoy day to day life and his retirement.

Currently it is incredibly difficult on us both to travel anywhere including medical appointments. Brad is not able to enjoy even short trips with his recent trip of six hours to his 50th high school class reunion being difficult on him.

A van equipped for his special needs would make any traveling even to the doctors office so much more comfortable and pleasurable for Brad as he would be able to access the van via a lift and with assist transfer to a recliner. When this van is no longer needed, it will be donated to another deserving firefighter.
