Braden Schellenberg, 15, was in a bicycle accident June 9 near Palisades, Idaho. David, Andrea, Dusty, Braden, Kolt, and their cousin, Jazemon, were on a camping vacation to celebrate Dusty graduating from 12th grade.
The morning of June 9, everyone was preparing to take a canoe trip down the Snake River. Braden was riding his bike around camp and had a crash that resulted in serious head injuries. The ambulance was called, and then Braden was life-flighted to Idaho Falls, ID. He was then life-flighted to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT.
Braden sustained severe craniofacial injuries. On Thursday he underwent a 6 1/2-hour surgery with neurology, ENT, and plastic surgeons. The next day they were able to get him off the ventilator and breathing on his own. His jaw is wired shut and he is receiving tube feedings. This courageous teen has a long road ahead for recovery.
First and foremost, Braden needs your prayers. For those who feel impressed to help financially, the family needs help to cover the cost of both life-flights and the extensive medical costs. All donations will be poured into Braden’s medical needs, and, along with your prayers lifting him up, will assist him on his road to recovery.
