On August 29, I set out to run 100 miles through the streets of Bangor for one reason — to bring attention to homelessness in our community and turn that attention into action.

21 hours, 31 minutes and 35 seconds later, I finished all 100 miles.

But the Hundo isn’t finished.

Together, this community has already raised more than $17,800 for people experiencing homelessness right here in Bangor. Nearly 180 people have donated, countless others have shared this fundraiser, volunteered, ran miles beside me, stopped at our aid stations, sent messages, and helped turn one crazy idea into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Now I want to see how far we can take it.

Our goal is $25,000.

This was never really about one guy running 100 miles.

It was about getting people to stop, pay attention, come together and remember that the people experiencing homelessness in Bangor are members of our community too.

And something else happened along those 100 miles.

People came together. Friendships were strengthened. People challenged themselves. We reminded each other what can happen when you set a goal, find a purpose and refuse to quit.

That spirit is going to continue.

The Hundo will return in August 2027 as a community event with multiple distances, giving more people the opportunity to set their own goal, push their own limits and be part of something with a purpose bigger than themselves.

But right now, we still have work to do.

WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING

100% of the money raised through this fundraiser will go to Jericho Road Ministries and The Well Warming Center in Bangor, organizations already on the ground helping people experiencing homelessness in our community.

The Well provides a safe daytime warming space during Maine’s coldest months, along with basic necessities including access to showers and laundry.

Jericho Road Ministries works directly with people facing homelessness and other difficult circumstances, meeting people where they are and helping with immediate needs.

I ran the 100 miles.

Now I’m asking our community to help carry this the rest of the way.
