Brad Woods

8-18-20 update on Brad!!!!!! He is doing good, still in icu but waiting for a regular room, they have been getting him up to walk the halls and sit in a chair, he has the wound vac on and he is no longer intubated. He is gonna have a long recovery. We do not know when he will get discharged, but we know when he does he will have some sort of rehab therapy and possibly home health to change his wound dressings. A bank account has been set up and it’s in his wife’s name Lola (Michelle) Woods. We could not put Brad on the account due to him not being able to be there! The bank account was set up at Woodforest National Bank inside of Walmart!! Hi, my name is Johnna Remy, this fundraiser was created for my fiancé’s uncle Brad Woods. A bank account is being set up in Brad And Michelle’s name here in Chillicothe. I do not know which bank yet, but will update this when I get it figured out. They will receive all money through the bank account.

A little information about Brad and his family. His wife is named Michelle, they have been married 22 years and they have a 15 soon to be 16 year old daughter, that goes to chillicothe local schools. Brad works at pixel here in chillicothe, which is also known as the mead. Brad has worked there for 14 years, he’s a boiler operator.

On August 2nd what brad thought was just a pulled muscle from a cough, turned into being what nobody expected. He had went to the doctor a couple times and his family doctor informed him the pain was from the boil he had and it had ruptured on the inside and that’s what was causing the pain he was having. That whole week brad kept getting worse and worse still going to work until his doctor wrote him off for a couple days and to let the medicine kick in he was prescribed. He had a follow up on Monday August 10th with his family doctor. His doctor advised him to go straight to Adena emergency room so they could take care of his boil and his infection.

After being at the er for a short time they told him he was being transported by squad to osu hospital that it was to much for them and he needed to be at a hospital that was better equipped for his issue.

He arrived at osu in the emergency room and they told him after doing a cat scan and all of their work up that he was going to be having surgery very soon.

The infection he has is called “Fournier gangrene”.

This infection had eaten at his abdominal wall, intestines, colon, muscles and tissue and spread very rapidly.

On Monday evening (8-10-20) he had his first surgery where they scraped his abdominal wall, took the dead intestines out, removed some of his colon and  removed some abdominal muscle and tissue. He now has a colostomy bag.

The doctor called his wife and told her how surgery went, explained that he was very sick, in critical condition, to prepare for his health to go anyway and that he was going to have multiple surgeries. They talked about how  he could go into organ failure and informed her that he was also a diabetic, which not even brad knew he was a diabetic.

On Tuesday (8-11-20) morning he had another surgery that consisted of them scraping his abdominal wall more to get the rest of the infection, removing muscle and tissue from his back, down his flank and his butt.

He stayed critical but stable all day Tuesday.

They continued to keep him intubated because he was gonna have another surgery soon.

On Wednesday (8-12-20) and Thursday (8-13-20) he stayed stable but critical, awake and aggravated with the tube being down his throat still, but he was doing good.

On Friday (8-14-20) he finally had another and final surgery except for closing him up.

They said everything looked good only had to remove a small amount of infection in his leg/groin area. They took out the tube, got him to eat 2 popsicles and a jell-o and slowly drinking fluids.

Brad is going to have a long road ahead of him, he has a wound vac on his abdominal area, will have future surgeries for cosmetic fixes, he will be in the hospital for a while.

Therefore Brad will be out of work for a long time. He is the sole provider for his family. As he’s off work he will not be receiving a pay check, and not only do they have to worry about all the medical bills they will be receiving, but most importantly their monthly bills, groceries, gas for their car to go back and forth to the hospital and when brad gets out of the hospital to take him back and forth to appointments and to provide for their daughter.

Let’s help this wonderful family out and help them worry less as they are all going through some life changing events right now.

If you can’t donate Atleast please share to help this family out as much as possible! They deserve it!
