Brad Spencer's stroke rehabilitation fund

Brad Spencer has been one of my close friends since high school. I have shared many great times with Brad and his family. He is a wonderful friend, son, husband and dad. This past March, his world was rocked by Covid-19. For those of you that are not aware of the story…Brad had been feeling sick. He was in close contact with his doctor when they decided to do a chest x-ray. They quickly made the decision that he would need to be admitted to the hospital for some further medical treatment. After multiple tests, he was prescribed oxygen and told he needed a lot of rest. He was then released. Brad arrived home with the perfect set up by his wife, Hailie. She prepared the basement for Brad where he would have the comfort of home, food, drinks, television, and her checking on him while he stayed quarantined away from the family. It was confirmed that he had Covid.
Brad was home for just a day when he suffered a major stroke that was Covid induced. This stroke affected Brad in many ways and has changed his world dramatically. He has had to learn how to walk, eat, brush his teeth and dress himself all over again. He is now very focused on re-learning to communicate. The stroke he suffered from affected the portion of his brain that allows him to process language, read, write and talk. This caused the disorder, Aphasia.
Brad is ONLY 45 years old, and he and his wife have two beautiful children who are 7 and 9. I am sure that he is dying inside because he can’t do many things with his family that he used to do. Brad has worked so hard to regain the skills that he has lost, and he continues to do so with a smile. He has so much life ahead of him, and he is determined to make the changes. As a parent, I can’t imagine not having the ability to communicate with my kids and my family the way I would want to. These kiddos deserve to have their daddy’s voice back!! With the right treatment, anything is possible.
Hallie has been working hard to find a location that will accept Brad as a patient, specializes in Aphasia, and is best suited for Brad’s needs. She has located one in St. Petersburg, Florida that will provide Brad with a six week intensive, individualized program that has been successful for many patients just like Brad. At this facility, he would receive daily, intense and specialized training as well as group therapy to retrain his brain to learn to communicate. Unfortunately, they do not accept insurance. We are hoping that we can all share in the financial journey that they have ahead of them. This will take some sacrifices from the family, a big commitment, dedication and money. I can only imagine how much it would mean to the children for them to be able to talk with their daddy again. All funds contributed will go toward helping Brad to find his voice again.
Thank you in advance for your generosity,
Regards,
Bobby Chadwell
