Brad Schneider's Surgery

As many of you know, over a year ago, Brad was rushed to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center by helicopter where they learned that he had suffered a Type B Aorta Dissection. After spending weeks in the hospital, and while it had been determined that he will need surgery at some point in time, his doctors collectively decided that his body was not ready to undergo the surgery as the risks were far too high, but he could go home.

Since leaving Peoria, Brad has been relocated to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he has had numerous doctor visits to determine the status of his health and his surgery date.  Life has been far from normal for Brad since his return home. With diet changes, time off of work, various medication changes, chest pains, and shortness of breath over the past year, he has been closely monitored and in stable condition. 

With that being said, the doctors at Northwestern Memorial hospital have determined that Brad is able to undergo surgery on Thursday, September 10th. While at Northwestern, he will go through two separate operations over a few days ... the first being a left subclavian artery bypass. This procedure will ensure that the graft, which will be put in a few days later, does not block his main artery and cause immediate or future issues. After 48 hours has passed, Brad will then go into his second surgery to place a specially-made graft from the top to bottom of his aorta tear. While Brad is in and recovers from surgery, Mary will be staying at a downtown hotel in Chicago close to the hospital. Upon leaving the hospital, full recovery should take 12 weeks.

This GoFundMe page is established in attempt to alleviate hospital and living expenses during recovery and there after for his family.  Brad and Mary are the parents of four children, two of which are still living at home.  There has already been such an overwhelming amount of support and love from family and friends that have impacted the Schneider family tremendously.  Any amount of monetary assistance is greatly appreciated.
