Brad Lines Bone Cancer Fund

Anyone who knows our dad knows that he has always taken great care of his physical health. He’s always been physically active and taught us the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Since as long as we can remember, Dad has gone to the gym every day. Going to the gym and being physically active has always been an outlet for Dad. His mental health depends on it. Six months ago, Dad developed some moderate hip pain, and just thought it was just normal wear and tear. It continued to get worse, so he went into his doctor requesting a cortisone shot for it. The doctor thought maybe he should look into it a little more and ordered a routine x-ray. The results came back and Dad got the call that he needed to make an appointment with an orthopedic oncologist for further evaluation. The x-ray revealed a sizable tumor. After several tests, the diagnosis was made that the tumor was osteosarcoma. Dad has cancer. This isn’t a typical cancer. This is an extremely rare bone cancer and he will need specialists out of state with radical treatments and surgeries. These treatments will cost a significant out of pocket amount in travel, tests, etc. He already has appointments set up with physicians in Texas and at Mayo in Minnesota. Multiple aggressive surgeries and treatments are in his future. Even if he gets the best care he could end up with severe physical limitations and possible
loss of his leg and of course his mortality is threatened. Throughout our lives Dad was always helping others no matter what! He helped out financially and in so many other capacities never asking for recognition or anything in return. He was always serving in his church callings and giving of his time. Dad needs help. He is the worst at asking for it. As his kids we can’t give back to him all that he has given to others. He would never ask, so we are asking for him.  We need him to continue to be our beacon and our kids need his humor and guidance as well. Please keep him and our amazing Mother in your thoughts and prayers.
