Since Brad Kerfoot moved to become an Assistant Pro at Maple Downs, he has demonstrated his incredible gift as golfer and has won a number of Canadian tournaments since he has been at the club, but the dream of becoming a touring pro has eluded him. The responsibilities associated with supporting a family have proven to be a challenge for Brad to pursue his dream.
I have had the privilege to play the Callaway Pro Am with him this past two seasons (Brad is sponsored by Callaway), where he decisively beat the field of other CPGA pros to win two years in a row.
This fall, Brad decided to take the chance to pursue his dream and try to make the Web.com tour. With the support of some of our members, in September he went down to California for the pre-qualifier and tied for 14th out of a possible 37 positions to advance to the next first stage qualifier.
While Brad has a good group of supporters already at the club, it is time to widen the net and share Brad's story to more people both at Maple Downs and outside the club to play a role in supporting our golf Pro to become a PGA touring professional.
Pursuing this dream places a signficant financial burden on Brad and his family, and until he is able to make it to the finals and have a chance to truly pursue his dream of becoming a PGA touring professional, the financial risk is just too much of a distraction for him.
So I thought, why don't we set up a GoFundMe page and help Brad make it through the qualifiers on his way to the finals. If he is able to make it to the finals, just having him a representative of Maple Downs Golf & Country Club as his home club is a great testament to the quality talent that Maple Downs has associated with our club. But if he doesn't, we will continue to support him as one of our great Assistant Pros at Maple Downs.
So I'm asking our community to please take a moment and support Brad on his journey to make it on the Web.com tour and representing Maple Downs Golf & Country Club.
