Brad Engelhardt -Family/Medical Financial Support

Donation protected
We are asking for financial help with this campaign for my brother in law, and our friend Brad Engelhardt.

Earlier this year Brad suffered what he thought was a pretty standard back injury at work. A few weeks later he found himself headed to the ER as pain and mobility seemed to be heading in the wrong direction. Ten days before his 40th birthday and after spending over a week in the hospital, the family learned devastating news, Brad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. He began treatment which consisted of a combination of radiation and chemotherapy while simultaneously undergoing therapy for his back injury.

Once again, just as they thought they were settling into this ‘new normal’ and were headed in the right direction in this fight, Brad had to undergo emergency surgery to correct a new fracture in his back, relieve pressure on his spinal cord and return mobility below his chest which had begun to rapidly deteriorate.

Even with all that has been thrown in his path, with the support of his family and friends, Brad is maintaining a positive outlook. He is making sure that all those around him are taking care of themselves as they try to do what they can to take care of him.

Brad is a devoted husband to Jen and father of 2 amazing kids (Timmy 15 and Leah 9). Due to his recent Multiple Myeloma diagnosis and subsequent spine surgery, the family will be undergoing a financial hardship. Brad will require continuous medical care as he recovers from his spinal fusion surgery, undergoes a stem cell transplant, and once he is well enough, as he continues to battle this disease. We appreciate the outpouring of offers to help and support this amazing family. We are hoping that by helping to ease their financial burden, we can provide some ‘normalcy’ and positive light for them as they go through this tough time.

A little more about Brad:

Brad is currently employed at the LIRR where in his short two years there has already made some great friends and has begun creating a name for himself due to his positive attitude and undeniable drive. Before transitioning there Brad had spent many years at Cablevision where he built lifelong friendships and left a lasting impression due to his work ethic and teaching nature.

During his ‘free time’ you could find him shooting hoops in various adult leagues, volunteering his time to coach Timmy and his buddies basketball teams, being a devoted ‘Cheer Dad’ encouraging Leah as she worked to perfect her tumbling skills, spinning some Pizzas at Grand Ave, enjoying dinners with friends and lovingly kicking his wife out of the kitchen so he could cook some edible (and amazing) food for the family!
