Until

"Until" is a new one-act theatrical production written by Elijah Vazquez and directed by Téa Einarsen. The show follows the story of a couple that has promised themselves to each other until the end of time. However, as their identity, grief, and love progress through the afterlife and into forever, the couple begins to wonder who they are past the end of time.

Director Téa Einarsen first discovered "Until" in 2021, workshopping and premiering at Post Theater Company. The show was an instant success. What was most apparent was how this story resonated with people of all ages. Following the success of this debut run, "Until" is now set to make its New York City debut in March 2024 at the Theater for the New City on the Lower East Side of NYC.

The primary goal of this campaign is to secure funding for the actors, production team, props, scenic elements, costumes, and publicity expenses.

This will be both Téa's post-by collegiate directorial debut and Elijah's playwriting debut in New York City.

A Note From Téa:
This show is incredibly important to me as a young woman who was discovering herself both as an individual and as a creative. It was so well received and so enlightening to craft several years ago, that I'm beyond words excited to be able to present it to a larger audience. No matter your age, your past, or even the people you choose to keep with you through life, there is always time to learn a little bit more about who you are. I believe this show encourages people to do that by presenting the scariest part of self-discovery; loneliness. This script gave me so much courage and I hope that it does the same for many more. Any donation is helpful! Thank you so much!

A Note From Elijah:
The idea of "forever", espeacially regarding love, scares me because its not promised. At some point, even in the after life, all will eventually end in some way. And one of my biggest fears is loosing my wife. Yes, we promised to love each other until the end of time, but what happens when we die, and our spirits hypothetically reach the end of time? If we were to finally seperate into the void, even after eternity, who will I become? What will my spirit be without love? Without her? So in the best way I know how to express my existential fears, I wrote this play.

One thing I enjoy about writing plays is getting to other people to read it. I know, seems like a given. But I think it's so wonderfully essential. Yes, the creative nucleus of it is all mine, but the keenest eye to uncover more possibilities inbetween the lines belongs to the reader. When Tea selected and produced my play a couple years back, my favorite portion of the process was discussing it. Talking, listening and bouncing ideas and thoughts to each other was amazing. The more I discuss my plays the more I discover myself as a person. And as the colloboration went on, Tea took the world of "Until", and carefully crafted it into her own unique vision, which made me discover my artistic confidence and the affect my writing can potentially have on collaborators and people in general.

Can't say I saw my play being performed in NYC. But here we are. 2024 ya'll and it's happening. Whether it's NYC or on the other end of the Earth, I'm grateful and happy to have this opportunity to physically share a piece of my imagination to the world.
