The end of last year our dad, Stephen Moglia, was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a common form of skin cancer. As a two time kidney transplant recipient, the anti-rejection medicine he has been on since 1996 caused SCC. This wasn’t the first time he had been diagnosed with skin cancer but this time it was different. After numerous scans, we realized that the initial spot on his back had metastasized to his neck, chest and lungs.

Since the beginning of this year dad has been under the care of two amazing hospitals in the NYC area. He has already undergone chemotherapy, radiation and most recently immunotherapy. His case is rare as the therapy poses potential threat to his current kidney transplant which is a perfect match from his brother Joe. Although we are doing everything in our power to save his kidney, the cancer poses a life threatening outcome that can’t be overlooked. The past few months have been especially hard as he has been hospitalized three times due to pneumonia and bacterial infections. Dad has been unable to work and his short term disability is about to run out. Even with all that I just mentioned, he has remained strong and determined to Beat Cancer!

Our dad has always lent a helping hand to those in need. He has continuously donated his time and services (DJ Mogs) to local charities and organizations. Now we are asking for the same in return. If you would like to assist with Steve’s financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Steve’s medical costs and related travel expenses and accommodations. We appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers and support already shown over the past months and undoubtedly, in the months to come.
