Support our friend Tom

Tom has been in the hospital for over 4 weeks now battling Covid-19. He knows what it is like to battle severe health issues because he has been dealing with the autoimmune condition of myasthenia gravis for several years now. Even though he was vaccinated, the myasthenia has made his fight with Covid more complicated. His condition deteriorated and he was admitted to the hospital and placed on a ventilator at the beginning of May. Tom has undergone several procedures and now has a tracheostomy to help him be more comfortable as his body slowly gains strength. He has begun the process of weaning from the ventilator. He is working hard, and it is exhausting work. Unfortunately, because of hospital policy, he has to do much of this work alone. His family has been outside his door cheering him on and sending encouraging messages through phone calls and signs. Today they were allowed in the room to visit and to hold his hand for the very first time!

Tom is a great dad to Megan and Ryan, and a cherished friend to so many. Obviously he has been unable to work, and it will be quite some time before he is able to do that again. After 4 weeks in the hospital his bills are beginning to pile up. As friends, we would like to show him any support that we can. While we can't help him fight the physical fight, we can lift him up and show him how much we care by helping to ease the financial burden of this battle. As you can imagine, the medical costs of over 4 weeks in the CCU are significant, as are keeping up on rent and utilities at his home. We would like to ease some of that stress so that he can focus his energy on his recovery.
