Shot and paralyzed help him recover

Hi my name is Maurice. As most of you may know, I was shot and paralyzed on June 23rd 2024. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary when a man bumped into us. I told him “Excuse you, aren’t you gonna say excuse me?” He said “No!” and pulled out a gun. He shot me 5 times. One of the bullets hit my spine, paralyzing me from the waist down. I was rushed to the trauma hospital where I underwent emergency surgery to save my life. I was in ICU for 3 days, and in the hospital for 2 months. I can’t walk and have no feeling in my legs or feet. I go to rehab as much as possible but this isn’t a fast fix. I have a very long recovery journey ahead of me. I’m unable to work and my wife has to be an around the clock care giver for me.I made this GoFundMe me to help pay bills and medical costs that aren’t covered by the state. I also need to make vehicle modifications so that I’m able to drive again. Home modifications are also needed to help with my recovery. I’m asking for the communities help with anything they can as I recover. It will likely take years before I’m able to walk again. I regularly go to rehab and do exercises to help regain control and strength, as directed by my physicians. My wife is the sole provider for my daughter and I.
