Janet’s Journey to Health

I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to speak about someone who means so much to me—someone I am fortunate to call both a friend and a partner-in-care. Janet Loveday has been a constant source of support and kindness to everyone around her for as long as I've known her. She's dedicated her life and her career to caring for others, especially the youngest among us, and she has done so with unwavering passion and generosity. But now, it's our turn to support her.
Over the last six months, Janet has faced some very challenging health struggles. Starting in April, she began experiencing some frightening medical issues. After several trips to the hospital and numerous doctor visits, she was finally given some answers. What they discovered was a large mass on her right lung. The possibility of cancer loomed large, but after many tests, we received the welcome news that the tumor was benign. Janet felt like she had won the lottery—more time with her family, more time with her friends, more time on this earth.
However, the journey hasn't been without its challenges. The tumor, though non-cancerous, is a rare condition known as Solitary Fibrous Tumor—only 30 cases have been recorded in Canada. Janet is truly a one-in-a-million kind of person, so it seems fitting that she would have something so uniquely rare. Unfortunately, there is no simple cure for this condition, and the only option is a major surgery that will likely involve the partial or full removal of her lung. As daunting as this prospect is, Janet has faced it with incredible strength and positivity.
In addition to the emotional toll, Janet has been dealing with significant financial strain. As the sole provider for her household, the thought of taking two months off work with very little pay has been a heavy burden. Janet is not one to ask for help, but I believe this is a time when we can come together to support someone who would do the same for us without hesitation.
Janet's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21st. She will be in the hospital for about two weeks and will then need another six weeks of recovery at home. During this time, she will face many challenges, both physically and financially.
If you are able and willing to help, any contribution—no matter how small—would make a meaningful difference. Every dollar will go toward easing Janet's financial worries and helping her focus on healing and recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and for any support you can provide. Your kindness will make a world of difference during this difficult time.
