Our Jack was one of a kind, He had a heart of gold and would help anyone. Jack became victim to financial and mental abuse and himself or his family never even knew it.
He was so well known and loved in our home town, by people of all ages. We, as a family are well known locally and everyone knows how close we are. Losing Jack has had a massive impact on a lot of people.
Jack was in a relationship for 3 years, he was never short of money, until this abuse started. His girlfriend left him in November and she knew he still loved her and she used it to her advantage. She knew she could get whatever she wanted from him and she did.
On the 6th of February 2020, our lives changed forever. Jack took his own life. He collapsed in the arms of his sister and started fitting, his body couldn't take it and he died when he got to QMC.
Our whole world was turned upside down in a matter of minutes.
Since he died, we have uncovered numerous text messages, letters and receipts, indicating months of financial, and emotional abuse.
Just in the last few months leading up to his death, we have found messages and receipts from things she got him to buy her, designer trainers, a horse, a car, designer clothes and so much more. She also asked for outrageous things such as A Range Rover costing 15k.
Every time she would ask for things, she would be nice and sending kisses on texts, then when she'd got what she wanted she was back to being spiteful.
We have had nothing but torment from the girl, burning his clothes and sending bills to our parents house.
This abuse is so unrecognized, especially in men. We have set up a petition to make it a criminal offence to abuse someone financially. we want to take the girl in question to court and get some sort of justice for our Jack. This is obviously going to cost thousands of pounds to pay for solicitor fees and court fees. Any help towards this would be an absolute blessing, we are not a rich family and have never claimed to be.
We want to raise awareness so other families don`t have to go through what we have.
