Urgent: Help Our Community Bring Jerry & His Dog Blue Home

Our community has the chance right now to change one man’s life — and reunite a father with his children.

Jerry has worked steadily and honestly, doing everything he can to support himself. He even works a job that directly serves our community every single day:

Jerry picks up litter along Houston’s highways to help keep our city clean and beautiful.

Despite his hard work, a small technicality pushed him into crisis. When he earned just three dollars over the income limit at his job, Social Security immediately cut off his benefits. That tiny amount led to a devastating outcome.

Without his Social Security check, Jerry couldn’t keep his home. He and his dog, Blue, have now been homeless for nearly a year, surviving day-to-day while he continues doing the job that keeps our highways clean for everyone else.

Jerry is also a devoted father to two children, ages 11 and 15, whom he normally sees every two weeks — but only when he has stable housing. Because he is currently homeless, he hasn’t been able to see them. This separation has been incredibly painful for Jerry and for his kids.

He has no remaining family to turn to. It’s just Jerry, Blue, and the support of the people around him.

Why this is urgent

For the first time in almost a year, there is real hope:

Jerry will begin receiving his Social Security checks again this month.

And even better — an apartment has been found that is ready to take him.

The only thing standing between Jerry and a safe home is the move‑in costs: deposits, first month’s rent, and basic essentials.
