Hello Friends! I am asking for a little help for a couple of great people that I have been very close to for many years & who are also now my daughters soon to be Mother & Father in law, Curt & Robin Allgood.
In a one month period, Curt has suffered two accidents. On Feb 17th, he smashed a can with his foot & ended up with a jones farcture in his right foot. He had surgery on Feb 23rd to insert a screw in his foot & all went well, but he will need to wear a walking boot for 8 weeks.
While still on the mend from the broken foot, on March 8th, Curt, who spends much of his free time doing woodworking projects in his garage, had a horrific accident with a table saw! He suffered severe injuries to his left thumb, index, long & ring fingers. He was taken to Bryan West & was then flown by life flight to Creighton Hospital in Omaha, where the amazing surgeon, Dr. Gangadasu Sagar Reddy performed total reconstruction , which took an intense 17 hours! Three tendons & seven nerves were shredded, the tendons were repaired & vein grafting was performed using veins out of his forearm. He spent the next three days in the hosptal (two of those days in the ICU) in severe pain. Between the miracle of modern medicine & all of your prayers, I am happy to report that Curt does have some movement in all of his fingers (although he has no "feeling" in them yet) & although the Drs. feel good about his prognosis (as far as him being able to "keep" his fingers), they are still watching the index finger closely to see if it will make it. Occupational therapy has now started & Curt will have a very long road to recovery ahead of him! This was a very rare & uncommon procedure that was performed in surgery, so they will be taking it day by day as far as the outcome of his recovery & function. At this pint, Curt is still dealing with alot of pain, as well as dealing with the emotional toll that this accident has taken on both himself, his wife & family.
Curt is employed at A street Auto Parts & it is not known at this time when he will be able to return to work, either part time or full time. While he is off, he will not be receiving any pay. Between missed work, high insurance deductibles, medcation co-pays, gas to make the trips to Creighton & occupational therpay daily & so on... just as most of us would, Curt & Robin are already feeling the financial strain of this tragedy! Robin works full time at Madonna & has recently been looking for a part time job to try to ease this financial burden. I DO NOT want her to have to do that! She cannot be expected to work 60-70 hours a week at two jobs while also trying to be there to help Curt to get through this.
I think all of us who know the Allgood's are aware that if the shoe was the other foot, they would be there to help us out in any way that they could & the reality is that any of our lives can be dramatically changed in a heartbeat if we suffer a traumatic accident or unexpected health issue.
I am asking for help so that Curt, Robin & their children & families can simply focus on getting Curt well without having to make themselves sick with worry about how they will make thier next house payment, put gas in their car, or pay for Curts next prescrition. So please, if you can find it in your heart to spare even just a few dollars, it would be more appreciated than words can express!
THANK YOU!!
