My name is Deborah Jackson & I’m kicking off a fundraiser campaign to help this family, Newton & Sontonia Sloan, & we need your help!

Their youngest daughter, Lexi who’s also my granddaughter, was diagnosed with a brain condition affecting the left side of her brain. It affects her perception & equilibrium, causing major chemical imbalances impacting her mental health, causing depression. It also affects “Lexi’s” memory, cognitive & social ability.

Treating Physicians recommended this new neurological treatment that’ now practiced in Atlanta, GA. It will cost the family around $10,000 to cover the Brain treatment. The family’s current insurance plan doesn’t cover the out-of-network alternative treatment but does cover noneffective medications, that cost the family thousands of dollars.

This family is very loving, fierce & has given back & inspired many in our community. Lexi’s brother, Alexx started his 501c3 Foundation, “Love Above All Else Inc,” In support of his Sister & other challenged, at-risk youth who suffer from mental & other health/challenges.

Lexi’s medical challenges majorly affected her ability to attend school for the past three years. She’s been in rehab therapy to help relearn behaviors & she's made significant progress. Her mother stopped working to help her daughter & has been dedicated & involved in her care. Lexi is now a Senior at Hillgrove High School & she’s excited to return to school this year to graduate with the Class Of 2023.

This family is in the fight to see their daughter thrive for success & they won’t give up on her. The prognosis with the treatment is an 85 percent success rate, with a full recovery.

We can’t cure Lexi, but we can help ease the financial burden & stress that this family is facing. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for them, to cover this treatment & relieve the financial strain on the family, & overall to help their daughter to thrive again.

The effects of mental health can be detrimental to one’s health. Mental health services are needed more than ever. According to the US Census Bureau, the number of Americans reporting symptoms of anxiety or depression surged 31% from the previous year.

The family wants to spread awareness to encourage families & friends to seek help/resources for their friends or family suffering from conditions that affect mental/health.

Together, we can address their needs by making a small contribution while focusing on building awareness, creating community programs, & supporting this family & others in need. Lets contribute to help end the stigma, advance mental health research, & expand access to conditions affecting one’s mental health care.
