Bipolar, rock bottom, housing and medication
Donation protected
Hi there, It's Will (Hobart '89, sibling '86) and, well, I'm in a bind. I have bipolar disorder and a pretty severe mania episode landed me in the psych ward recently. It was an entire mess, but it also wasn't the first time. My wife, who has already lived through far too many instances of this already, has filed for divorce. And she's right.
Anyway, I need to get out of town soon (to Memphis, if possible, where I have some potential opportunities)...but I am currently destitute. No money to get there and no money to fund a place to live. In about 2 months I'm going to be homeless whether I go or stay here in Florida unless I can scrape anything together. I need help.
I'm going to counseling (which will be continuing remotely if I do move), regularly seeing a psychiatrist, and attending NA because substance abuse was involved in the event earlier this month. I'm taking my medication faithfully, although I will soon be looking at changes in health coverage and will not be able to afford my medication. I am currently out of work and Ubering night and day but it's not enough to put any money together in the next 2 months.
It's a desperate situation, so I'm turning to this in hopes that I can put things back together, move if possible or at least find a place to live here (housing costs here are ridiculous) and somehow pay for my medications. I'm very sorry to even be asking, but anything would help. I don't want to end up back on the psych ward, it would be a death sentence.
It is hard to have to do this and ask for help. But if you can, it would help me stay alive in a very real way.
