If you’re reading this, you probably know a thing or two about me but let me give some backstory, just in case. My name is Maryn. I am a High School junior, a soccer player and cross-country runner, a big sister and a devoted student. These days, I’m pretty defined by school and schoolwork but outside of the time that I commit to studying, I enjoy music, the occasional non-school related reading and even movies now and then.

So here I am on the cusp of diving, head first, into my next chapter—college!

My parents are helpful, they attend all of the college information nights and are always reading up on the decisions ahead of us, encouraging me to do the same. This combination has led me to realize that I crave the academic environment en route to college, to figuring out what school and path to devote my collegiate years to. Therefore, It is my goal to raise enough money to attend the Summer in the City program at Barnard, a liberal arts college for women, associated with Columbia University. The program is four weeks long, and includes two classes a day, and the opportunity to visit professional organizations and attend on-campus seminars. The thought of spending four weeks in New York City and at Barnard has me ecstatic! The summer of 2017 is my last summer as a High School student so I expect that the program will help me get into the college groove all the while exploring the many opportunities I have before me. I can’t wait to be a Barnard woman and your generous support will help me fulfill this dream!

Please know that I appreciate every well wish, every donation and all of the constant support I receive from all of you. It has been through that support that the idea of starting these fundraising efforts, when the cost of the program is so daunting arose. I’m so hopeful that by starting this effort now and directing all of my birthday or holiday gifts this way that this dream can become a reality.
