My Heart Story...
I was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries, a congenital heart defect, in which the two main vessels are backwards. My heart had "poor plumbing." I turned blue. Rushed to Milwaukee Children's Hospital, I then had a Balloon Septostomy to help my oxygen levels. Days later, I underwent open-heart surgery, the Arterial Switch Procedure. Without such advanced medicine and an incredible support team, I would not be here today.
Giving Back...
Now, I am 13 years old and live my life as a "typical teen," working hard in school, playing sports, and making friends. As I become a Bar Mitvah, it is important to me to take on a more mature role of "giving back." I am organizing a project that will donate money to other heart babies to support them and their families, as they head into their own life-threatening and life-changing heart surgeries.
Cardon Children's Medical Center...
Cardon Children's Medical Center Banner Desert in Mesa, AZ has been providing pediatric care for more than a decade. Until only recently, a need grew for a separate facility for special little patients -- in just ten years, they had grown from 24 dedicated pediatric beds to 168 dedicated pediatric beds and there was demand for more.
Donating...
I ask that you donate to share in this beautiful cause, helping me give back to other "heart children," like myself. Money received will go to helping children and families prepare and feel more comforted as they face hospitalizations and surgeries.

My Donation...
Additionally, I will provide heart babies with their own stuffed dogs, like I was given, when I was born and facing my open-heart surgery. My NICU nurse gave me "Baby D." Baby D has been by my side ever since and has been a sign of hope and strength. With all of your donations, I will add my story of strength and survival and donate a "Baby D" to the many children on Cardon's Heart Unit.
