Help LOT2545 move!

LOT2545 is a registered 501c3 that works in Kampala, Uganda with teenage boys that used to call the streets home.  We have a rehabilitational home for 21 boys and support an additional 2 boys that have been resettled with their families with school fees.

We have dedicated ourselves to the older boys because they are the most overlooked and neglected.  Our youngest boy is around 15 years old and our oldest is about 19.  Once a boy on the streets reaches 12 years old, his chance of ever getting of the streets almost completely disappears.  People see the younger boys as more vulnerable and the older ones as having too many issues and too independent.  As a result, the older boys are rarely ever pursued.  We believe in these boys and their potential.  We believe that when they are loved and given the proper care, like education and counseling, they can heal and start a new life that has a bright future.

We have created this campaign in order to move to a new area.  The main reason that we want to move to a new area is because of a lack of good education in ours.  We were sending our boys to some of the better schools in our area but are discovering that even those ones are not that great.  The teachers are continuously caning the boys, grading their papers poorly and giving them better grades than they deserve to make themselves appear as if they are better teachers and even not showing up daily to school so the boys aren't learning anything some days.  We realize it is an education that is going to help these boys have a better future.  Schools here do not provide transportation, so you have to live near the school that you want to attend.

Moving in Uganda can be very costly.  Whenever you move to a new house, the landlord requires at least 6 months rent up front.  If you do not have that, it is impossible to find a place to rent.  As a result, we are creating this campaign to raise the much needed funds to help us move.  The money from the campaign will be used to pay the needed 6 months rent.  In addition, it will also be used to purchase new beds for the boys, as the ones they are currently using are quite old and unrepariable.  It will also be used for all moving costs.  Any additional money over the goal will be used to pay additional months rent up front.

Thank you for partnering with us to help change these boys' lives.  By supporting this campaign, you are helping many amazing boys have a safe place to call home.  You are helping them to rebuild their lives and have the chance at a good education, which will ultimately give them a great future.
