Boykin Dance Project's First Season

My name is Brian Martinez, and I’m the founder and artistic director of Boykin Dance Project.

As a Mobile, Alabama native with professional experience dancing in Chicago, IL, I’m passionate about bringing high-quality, professional dance to my hometown and the surrounding communities.

I noticed a void in accessibility where professional, curated dance isn’t readily available. I’m compelled to provide a new avenue to view world-class art that doesn’t require traveling to New Orleans or Atlanta. Instead, this time, it’s happening in my favorite city, my hometown.

Coming from minority communities, I feel prepared and equipped to add a unique voice and vision to the Gulf Coast’s performing arts scene, adding to our already diverse community of artists.

Boykin’s mission is to elevate and enrich Mobile’s arts scene through the curation of professional, world-class dance and educational outreach.
