Boyd Lee Goes to the Dentist
Donation protected
Hello, I am Boyd Lee! I was a "left outdoors" cat in NYC years ago, until I found a home at the Labor Temple with Association for Union Democracy, TDU and Labor Notes where the staff became my family. They took care of me daily and I lived with all of them until the COVID 19 Pandemic shut down the office. Off I went to go live full-time with a person who loves me very much.
My time on the streets have taken a toll on my teeth. I now have Stage 4 dental disease. Some of my teeth are already broken and falling out. But I am in a lot of pain. I try to eat with my hands to keep from having to chew, but it doesn't help much. I'm scheduled to get all my infected and broken teeth pulled on July 26th. I am getting medicine now for pain and to control the infection, but I have to go back under anesthesia to get my teeth pulled and my gums stitched up.
As some of you know - dental care for pets isn't cheap. My estimate is about $2000 and they expect my surgery to come in on the high end of this estimate. The wonderful people at the vet's office are doing what they can to keep costs down, but unfortunately, they won't know the total extent of the damage until they get in there and see everything.
Sadly, there are no free or low-cost options for me - ASPCA and Humane Society are not taking appointments for dental care. I am only six and very healthy otherwise! If I were still on the street and ended up at the NYC shelter, I would be euthanized. My Union friends saved me, but no one anticipated how bad my teeth would get.
Even just the cost of a cup of coffee would be a help. And if you can't donate, please share!
In solidarity,
Boyd Lee the Union Hall Cat
