Boxing for Rudi

Hi my name is Dave Boyd , next Tuesday on 10th May I am going to be doing 12 hours of Boxing , 9 am to 9pm . Hitting the punch bags at The Port O' Leith Boxing Gym . The reason is to raise money for this wonderful local lad 7 year old  Rudi who sadly was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive grade 4 brain tumour . Rudi now has been officially accepted for the trials of a new treatment in Seattle but what comes with that is a huge financial cost , so please give what you can and I'll do my best to keep punching.

Rudi was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive grade 4 brain tumour (pineoblastoma) right in the very centre of his brain in August 2020.

Since then he has undergone gruelling treatment - extensive and extremely complex brain surgeries, travelling to Germany for 6 weeks of proton therapy and then 4 months of extremely intensive chemotherapy here at Edinburgh Sick Kids.

His chemo finished in April 2021 and he has been gradually recovering from the horrendous side effects of the 10 months of treatment and bravely battling back to some sort of normality - recently getting back to attending school and at long last interacting with his friends again.

Cruelly, just as he has been really starting to feel like his amazing, funny self (well he was always funny, even in the depths of his treatment!), February’s MRI showed that some tumours have returned!!

This devastating news was compounded when his family was informed that there are now very limited options available to Rudi, and what the NHS can provide has unfortunately reached it’s limit..

We are hoping to raise money to support Rudi and his family in the next steps of his fight against this horrendous disease!

If any money raised is not required in Rudi’s battle we will donate the funds to the amazing and hugely underfunded Brain Tumour Charity.
