Boxing Day Fire Heavily Damages Szabo Family Home in Hungary

Donation protected

My wife's family in Hungary just had a devastating house fire in the family home in Szolnuk on Boxing Day.
Unfortunately the house did not have fire insurance and suffered about $100,000 Euros of damage.
The good news is that everyone is safe and the house can be repaired.

The family is headed now by Sandor "Ocsi" Szabo, son of the late Sandor Szabo, dod 2018, and Magdy Szabo.
At the time of the fire on Boxing Day, only Magdy, was living in the house. Her other adult son Nandor was working at a ski resort in Austria on a contract, usually he is residing in the family home and helping his mother out.
Sandor lives a short distance from the family home in Szolnuk with his family, a wife and 2 younger children, and has taken in Magdy in their much smaller house until enough repairs can be done on the family home to make it habitable again.

The family had been celebrating at the family home over lunch on Boxing Day when they heard a WHOOSH, and flames erupted from an electrical panel near the rear door in the kitchen area of the main floor. The fire quickly caught the outdoor kitchen addition on fire, burned up the side of the house where it entered the attic space thru the soffits and caught the roof rafters on fire.
The fire department arrived quickly but were plagued by low water pressure at the fire hydrants as they did their best to extinguish the fireball the fire had turned into very quickly.

Presently the family under Ocsi's leadership is fundraising in Hungary to raise money to repair the family home.
A big day of cleanup with volunteers was undertaken Dec 30 to remove debris and tarp up the attic of the house to keep the weather out. The local news station was on site interviewing Ocsi and filming the cleanup crew in action.

This is going to be an ongoing repair for at least a few months with the goal of moving Magdy back into the house as soon as possible. Eventually Nandor will finish his work contract in Austria and move back into the house also to help continue the repairs.
And looking into the future more, Ocsi would to move his family into the upper house floor once more repairs are completed.

Life in Hungary is harder now with the Ukrainian war, it has driven up the food prices, increase the price of utilities by a lot, 10x for natural gas alone, and driven up the unemployment rate.

So today I'm asking if you can spare a few dollars, or $20 or $50, to help support Tina's family need in Hungary.
Thank you for making it this far in our pitch, hoping you can go to next step and push that Donate button!!

Thanx again, sincerely, Ray and Tina
