Let's take Haiti to the 2024 Boxing Olympic Games

My name is Ducas Delian. I decided to become a boxer during my teenage years in the United-States. I am self-taught and have trained for several hours daily for the past 15 years, training clients and teaching trainers too. Boxing is more than a sport for me; it is my lifeline. It's my way of raising and inspiring my 7-year-old son as a single father.

After a rough patch in the States, I am now based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where I have lived for a decade and became a standout heavy-weight boxer, known for his resilience and strategic prowess. I have been sharing my knowledge and training the next generation of Haitian athletes as a boxing and fitness coach.

My dream is to represent my country, Haiti, on the world stage of boxing. Early this year, I was invited to participate in the qualification rounds for the Olympic Games in Paris this July 2024. I was just one step away to a gold medal for Haiti, but unfortunately, my Schengen visa was not granted in time and I missed the opportunity to go. Things happen for a good reason, because shortly after the country's international airports closed due to civil unrest and I would have been stuck outside my country, with my son alone.

This was a hard moment and with pain in my heart I had to announce to all who supported me in one way or another that I had to change my plans. I am not giving up! Fortunately, there is another opportunity for me to qualify to the Olympic Games by going to Thailand for the qualifications in Bangkok from 23 May to !! I have been selected again for this opportunity by the Haitian Boxing Ligue and booked my stay there. Everything will be at stake to obtain my ticket to finally represent my country .

This opportunity still means the world to me and my dream remains to win a gold medal to represent my country and inspire the Haitian youth! I am ready to face any challenge with dedication and determination and I never want to let my supporters down! Despite the chaotic socio-political situations, we motivate ourselves and continue working hard to achieve our goals and succeed. I have been training daily for months now, with a professional coach, with YOUR support. Thanks to this support, I have been able to pay a coach and book accommodation in Bangkok. But I still need 5,000 USD more (so a target of 8,500 USD in total) to book my plane ticket, cover visas fees, buy some equipment for the qualifications and cover the care for my son while I fight!

Thanks again to everyone who has supported me so far, and to those who won't leave me, it's not over yet.
I promise to shout out every supporter through each stage of the competition and give my all to make my son and you proud. Let us show the world that Haitians can go beyond and inspire the youth in being known for their talent, resilience and performance on the world stage! I will be massively grateful for any amount you can give.

Note: Ducas is currently in Haiti. Funds will be collected by a family relative in Florida, US and then transferred to him on his Haitian bank account. Unfortunately, GoFundMe does not allow direct transfers in Haiti and all efforts by Ducas to open an US account were met by obstacles...
