Bowtye Needs a Lifesaving Surgery—His 10th Birthday Wish

Hey everyone,

I never thought I’d be in a place where I’d have to make one of these, but here I am writing this with a lump in my throat and my sweet dog curled up next to me, completely unaware of what’s going on.

His name is Bowtye Balboa, and he’s not just my pet he’s my family, my baby, my shadow. My emotional support through some of the hardest times in my life. He’s been by my side for almost 10 years, and now he needs me more than ever.

A few weeks ago, I found a mass on him. After some tests and vet visits, I got the news I was dreading: he needs surgery to remove it. It could be cancer, we don’t know yet but what we do know is that the surgery is urgent. And it’s expensive.

I’m currently in grad school full-time, studying Environmental Health & Safety. I’m working hard toward a better future, but right now, I’m a single dog mom doing the best I can and this vet bill is more than I can handle alone.

His 10th birthday is coming up on June 12th. I just want him to make it there and far beyond. He still has so much life left in him. He knows how to say I love you (in his own way), he gives long hugs, he loves to chase little creatures (even though he’s small), he loves chicken and watching John Wick 1 & 2. He still greets me at the door like I’ve been gone forever, even if it’s just been 10 minutes. He still tries protect me even though he’s 16 pounds.

If you’re a dog person, you know they’re not “just dogs.” They’re soulmates in fur. He’s mine.

I wouldn’t be asking if I had any other option. But if you can help Bowtye beat this in any way whether it’s a donation, a share, a kind word (those mean so much) it would mean the absolute world to me. Every little bit helps. Truly.
