Hi,
This is Rachel & Christina. In the late house of Friday night, 10/29, this sweet 9/10 year old boy was found wandering the streets in the Venice x La Brea area. He was skiddish and so dirty - but incredibly sweet, gentle, and hungry. Neighbors gave him food and water, and he came back in the morning for more. Saturday was spent trying to track him down until his photo was found posted on "pawboost" by another neighbor who found him and housed him. That kind neighbor took him to get scanned for a microchip Sunday - he didn't have one. On Monday, Christina took him to a groomer (Thank you Doggy Day Spa!) where he got a beautiful trim and flea bath. From there, Rachel picked him up so she could "foster" him until he finds a loving forever home! Rachel was able to get him in to see a vet where they did a general wellness exam, got all of his vaccinations up to date, gave him medication for his ears, and did a blood test to see if he's able to go under for surgery. Bowie has a large hard mass near hit butt that the vet thinks is cancer, and makes it extremely difficult for him to sit and poop. There is some blood in his stool as well.
From the vet:
"Bowie's blood results were fairly good. It does show he is mildly anemic. The next step for him would be to take x-rays of his lungs to make sure no cancer is present there. Then if the lungs are clear, have his rectal mass surgically removed and have him neutered"
Wednesday 11/3 @ 4PM Rachel is taking him for the X-ray's and hopefully, if all goes according to plan, surgery!
Naturally, all of these medical costs aren’t cheap, but luckily Rachel was able to find a vet to provide these services at a reduced rate. Bowie has become SO beloved by everyone he has met, he is gentle and loving, and we would love any help we can get in covering these costs so that he can be adopted by a loving family and never be on the street again.
