Bowen’s Montreal Move & Tuition!
HELLO friends, family and ~benefactors~ ;)!
Over the last two years I've been working tirelessly to make a my dream of becoming a working artist a reality.
In January of 2020 I spent 3 months (and all of my savings) on one semester at a little school called Brainstorm in Burbank, CA that specializes in the industry niche I'd love to be part of. That being concept art. Which is art made to visualize ideas! These ideas being costumes, characters, environments, moods and sets for games and movies. During my time in California I learned what it meant to be surround by people who were endlessly creative and passionate. The experience gave me a realistic view of what the job was, the hard work involved and I fell in love with it! Since then I've become convinced that given the time and opportunity I could be most useful and fulfilled as part of a larger whole; helping to create the films and games you all enjoy so much!
When I was forced back to Canada in March I didn't waste any time. I spent over 100hrs a month during lockdown practicing.
This didn't last forever as I had to start working full-time when things opened back up. I needed more time than I could commit while working to improve. So I started looking for schools.
I had heard about a school in Canada that was known to produce the very best artists in my field, that being Syn Studio and I set my sights on getting into their diploma program. I understood they were extremely selective, only 20 spots! I had to make my portfolio stand out and so I obsessed over the qualifications. I pushed myself to expand my skills; taking online classes, getting feedback from friends and this was the result: Syn Studio Application Portfolio & Letter of Motivation
After submitting I was holding my breath for three weeks waiting to hear back to see if I would be moved to the video interview stage. When I finally did get word back that I would be moved forward I was THRILLED! I wore my coolest shirt and did my hair up all nice. It worked because 2 weeks after that I go my offer letter!
Now I'm on my way! I've been selling, donating and reprioritizing to put together the funds to make it there and I've come up a little short. Some help with my journey would make all the difference. I would allow me to get there and transition into life in Montreal without having to worry about putting myself into credit card debt.
Any donations at all would mean the world to me! <3
