Bowen’s Fontan Operation
Donation protected
This is Bowen Lucas Moore. A phenomenal 3 year old boy. Bowen is a big brother, a little brother, a cousin, a nephew, an uncle, and an amazing son. But Bowen is also a Heart Warrior. Before Bowen was born, he was pre diagnosed with Critical Aortic Stenosis and HLHS. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome affects 2 out of 10,000 babies a year. For every 1 in 100 babies born with CHD every year, Bowen’s congenital defect makes up 2% of those hundred babies. It is a very rare, very serious heart anomaly.
Bowen had his first open heart surgery at 3 weeks and 6 days of life on April 27th, 2020. Not even a month old yet. His recovery was supposed to be 6 weeks. We spent 13 weeks (100 days exactly) in a pediatric cardiac ICU before we brought our baby home for the first time. His second OHS (Glenn Operation) was September 13th at 6 months old. Recovery time was suggested at 1-2 weeks. Bowen stayed for 5. We have enjoyed the last two years living in the moment with Bowen. If you didn’t know, there is no cure for HLHS. Only an extension of life. With the Fontan procedure, we can pray for 30 more years with Bowen. (His Momma is only 32, so we know there’s still so much life to live). The surgery is scheduled for August 15th, 2023. Recovery time projected is 3-4 weeks. But knowing Bowen and his recovery time we know he will be there much longer that expected.
This gofundme will help us provide Bowen with the comfort of both of his parents to take a leave of absence from work. It will allow us to take care of bills while we care for Bowen. It will help with hotel lodging, food, and ANYTHING Bowen desires during his stay.
If you can’t donate, please share. Please pray. Bowen means the absolute world to us and we will do whatever we need to do to get him through this scary part of his life! Thank you all so much, and God Bless
Update 8/18: we reached our goal, but we still have people asking if they can donate I just updated it. It’s been a rough 3 days so far, but Bowen somehow manages to barely make it out of critical care at the end of the day. Thank you all so much for everything you have done for us in this time of need. You will never know how much we cherish you all.
