Bourne a Survivor!
Spende geschützt
Sitting here thinking what to write about our beautiful Gemma Bourne...(speaking on behalf for many who know and lover her too) I've been reflecting back over the past few years her brave battle physically and emotionally with Cancer. She is one in a million.
We all know someone who has fought the good fight... and in a nut shell... Gemma won the first round... but Cancer has now come back for a second round...
The ground below her feet has opened up...
Gemma Bourne. Mother, Lover, Daughter, Niece, Sister, Auntie, Friend,
At the age of 32, 2016, our GemGems was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer...
Needless to say it shook her whole world and everyone around her...
Mother to a 1 year old at the time, the trials of 'keeping it together' was an absolute must....
For Gemma, she powered on through, and with the great support from all around her she carried on everyday life with a brave smile on her face...
She also raised an impressive £4,011.26 in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support with a 'mass' head shave ...
The amazing support from everyone was breathtaking. It really gave her the lift she needed, community support really is everything...
Treatment consisted of Chemo, Radiotherapy AND a Mastectomy.... which happened on her Bloody Birthday!!!!!
But she did it.....She did it. She won.
The mist on the horizon was beginning to clear, 2018 was the beginning again. Gemma was moving forward, making plans and looking like herself again.... AND the wonderful man in her life proposed in January which was such a celebration.... so much to look forward to!
Moving into Summer fun with family and friends Gemma has been really looking forward to putting it all behind her and focus on the future with her Fiance and raise their beautiful boy...
Until, a few weeks back she went for a scan to check her body was fit for surgery for a 'new boob' ... needless to say, the results were far from what she expected.
Cancer has raised its FUGLY head again... presenting itself in her pelvic and hip bones, spine and sternum... Offically known as ‘Secondary Breast Cancer in the Bones’...
I'm crying.
It's so not fair.
Why is it that all the good, kind, loving and genuine people in the World get handed such a shit card... and so young!
The complete feeling of helplessness is so overwhelming.
For all of us.
After being told the news, Gemma sat there across the table from me, and all she said was...
'I'm not greedy, I'm not selfish. But all I want is 15 years. 15 years to see my boy become the man he will be for the rest of his life...'
Not much to ask really is it...
Its going to be another long rocky road ahead for our girlie. There is a lot more treatment on the cards and hopefully A LOT more years yet to be had and to enjoy!...
Gemma's always the strong one, there for anyone, will do anything for anyone. She never puts herself first. She's always about everyone else, her willingness to make others happy and help however she can is so heartfelt, even when she clearly has her own hurdles to overcome.
Now its our turn to give her something.
Money won't cure her cancer, but I'm telling you now she bloody deserves a gift. A big gift with a sod off size bow!....
I can't tell you what she would use this money for... perhaps a family holiday, her wedding dress! home improvements!, a food shop! or a epic boob job one day!!!!!...
Its going to be an uncertain time for Gemma, and who knows what the future may bring...
***Fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed***
But I tell you now, what we can do for her is raise some fun tokens to make life a little more enjoyable for Gemma and her little family.
However much we raise will be used for greatness and received with a huge thanks....
and lets face it, you'll know exactly where your 'fund' will go and how much of a difference it will make for such a special person...
We all pray this next chapter will go as smoothly as possible... It won't be easy all the way, but we can try....Let's give her a boost!
The plan is to present the total raised for our 'Bourne Survivor' in December 2018 at an organised event... date yet to be confirmed ... but lets aim for an epic Christmas Pressie she won't forget!!!!.... Let's double this target!!!!
With HUGE thanks, appreciation & love....
