Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the lives of millions of people have been effectively put on halt either partially or completely. With the worst few weeks projected to hit Canada soon, healthcare providers in the Greater Toronto Area need to be prepared to face the brunt of the impact. However, a massive shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is threatening our community’s ability to fight back. Dr. Lisa Salamon, chair of district 11 at the Ontario Medical Association, has described the current conditions as a “warzone”, with not even close to enough supplies being rationed out. Scarborough Health Network is at the epicentre of this crisis. They do not receive large donations like other hospitals in the GTA, and we are seeking to target their 3 sites to alleviate some of the pressure that this shortage has caused. Currently, hospitals lack access to suppliers, so direct monetary donations are not effective as physical donations. As students coming from an international background, a few friends and I are helping to alleviate this issue with our connections to suppliers both in Canada and overseas. But we can not do this alone, and that is why we are asking for your support to raise funds towards this initiative.
We are J.T. Zhang, Matton Xia, and Timothy Wang, and together we are Boundless. As three high school students, we have found that we have a lot of free time in our hands during these difficult times. What better way to make use of this time than to assist the healthcare workers putting their own wellbeing at risk to protect our city from this deadly virus? Whether directly or indirectly, we have all been impacted by this virus in one way or another, and we can only imagine how much the lives of the medical workers at the front lines of this battle have been affected. So, we wanted to try to make a difference and look out for the people that have been looking out for us. It is only right that we do so.
Dr. Lisa Salamon and Dr. Kanna Vela, representing the Department of Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Health Network and the Ontario Medical Association, are two medical professionals we are collaborating with on this project. We thank them for their work as well as their contributions. With their help, we have been able to find and source PPE from certified suppliers as well as channels of distributions into many different healthcare communities in the area.

Here are some of the supplies that we will be donating:
-KN95 Masks
-Eye Goggles
-Face Shields
-N95 Masks
-Level 3 Surgical Masks
-Surgical Gowns
-Bouffant Caps
-Disinfectant Wipes
-Protective Aprons
To give you an idea, our goal of 50,000 CAD will allow us to donate around 30,000 KN95 masks.
How it works—3 Simple Steps:
1. We withdraw the donated money periodically to purchase supplies both domestically and internationally. 100% of money raised will go to this cause. Not even a cent will be for profit.
2. After receiving a shipment, we will personally deliver the equipment to the respective hospitals.
3. Once the equipment is delivered, we will follow up with any new needs of the hospital. All of our actions will be posted below in the updates tab.
