Bound for Brazil

My name is Antionna Fuller. I am an uprising Junior at the University of South Carolina majoring in Psychology Pre-Law and double minoring in Criminal Justice and African American Studies. My aspiration is to become a Child’s Advocate Attorney and to make a difference in as many lives as I can. Between interning with Senator Lindsay Graham and working, I am heavily involved in community service and different organizations on campus. I am also excelling academically with a current GPA of 3.73.
From a young age, I have always wished for the opportunity to be able to travel outside of the United States, but was never given the chance. I have always longed to explore and learn more about the social, political, physical, musical, and culinary culture of other countries. But rather than continuing to question, watch documentaries, or read books and articles about these nations, I would love to experience them for myself. I’ve been awarded a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to study abroad in Brazil this summer between the dates of June 26th – August 2nd. I will be able to take 6 credit hours in Brazil (up to two classes) and they will transfer back to USC.
Studying abroad would be an amazing opportunity for me. It will allow me to become more open-minded and for me to step out of my comfort zone. I believe that in order to grow and reach your full potential you cannot remain stagnant. You cannot continue doing what is easy or what is normal. You have to broaden your horizons and take a leap of faith. That is what I want to do. That is what I will do. I live by the quote “the difference between the impossible and possible lies in a person’s determination”. I am determined to each my goal and will do whatever it takes to make sure I can take full advantage of the opportunities that are offered to me.
This program relates to one of my minors: African American Studies. It also relates to my interest because I have always wanted to get out the country and see more than what I am use to. Growing up in a less privileged community has offered many challenges, but has also helped me realize the value of a college education and the importance of taking advantage of all of the opportunities I can. Studying abroad would be a life changing experience. I will be in a place that I have always wanted to visit, while studying and taking courses that I love. To me, that is paradise and an opportunity I cannot waste. The skills I will learn and the experience I will gain will help me to grow into the woman I aspire to be. To ensure my competiveness and success as a prospective professional, I think it is not just a desire for me, but a necessity to study abroad. By studying abroad, I will be able to prove that I can adapt, my independence, and that I am able to work with people from other cultures. I love meeting new people, going to new places and I love to learn. So why not Study abroad?
The program originally costs $6,000 but I have already managed to accumulate $2,500. If 350 of my friends/supporters donate ONLY $10.00, I will be able to fund my WHOLE study abroad trip without accruing additional debt! I understand that I may not be able to get all the remainder from sponsors but, a donation of any kind will be greatly appreciated.
Be in the number and donate $10.00 today! Let the countdown begin! Thank you in advance!
