Boston Poetry Marathon 2019

Donation protected

It’s summer, which means it's...BOSTON POETRY MARATHON time again!

The Boston Poetry Marathon is a Poetry Festival in which 100+ poets read their work each for eight minutes apiece, throughout an entire weekend. It's a great time of year to wrangle a bunch of poets and their friends and admirers together to celebrate poetry!

New Venue!

This year’s Marathon will take place Friday-Sunday, August 16, 17, and 18, and we have some especially exciting news— we have a NEW LOCATION: the Community Church of Boston at 565 Boylston St in Copley Square!

It’s a bigger, more comfortable, air-conditioned space with a kitchen, a separate social area, and a huge sunny picture window overlooking Copley Square. (Right near the *running* marathon's finish line, in fact!) It even has a grand piano!

Another key aspect is that it's accessible for people with mobility issues, because it has an elevator as well as a wheelchair accessible bathroom. This was important to us because we want to make the event as inclusive as possible to all who wish to attend or participate.

We Need Your Help

We give our heartfelt thanks to the Community Church for offering us this space at a very decent price. However, it is still much more expensive than our old venue. So! We need to raise funds to make this new venue possible.

The funds we raise will be used for:

 - Rent for the space
 - Sound equipment rental
 - Refreshments for the event
 - Publicity and organizational expenses

Any remaining funds over our projected expenses will be placed in an account to be used for next year's event.

Donations in any amount are very much appreciated and will do a great deal to defray the costs of running this special yearly event.

More about the Boston Poetry Marathon

This all-volunteer festival is now in its 22nd year, and has a long and lovely history. Last year we had a record number of 130 poets reading their work. Readers come from all over, from far away or just down the street. It is free and open to the public, and is a wonderful week of poems, poets, and creative camaraderie.

We have a lot of fun. We listen to lots of poems. We hang out and have a great time!

Donations Welcome

Thank you in advance for your generosity.  And please feel free to share this Go Fund Me with your community! It’s going to be a really spectacular year, and we really look forward to seeing you there!
