Dear Reader,
We are a group of Indian Origin resident physicians across various Boston hospitals working to raise funds to send supplies and sustainable support to our colleagues working in rural hospitals across India. The second wave of the COVID 19 Pandemic continues to have devastating consequences across the country, and hospitals and healthcare workers- particularly in rural areas- are overwhelmed and overburdened by an increasing number of cases and deaths. It is estimated that there are likely to be over 1 million Indian deaths due to COVID and over 100,000 children orphaned by the end of 2021.
Together, we can fight this COVID wave, and we request your support in raising money to support the relief efforts. The funds being raised by the Maharashtra Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization in the USA, will be routed directly to multiple vetted organizations in India working directly with COVID relief we have been closely associated with.
All funds will directly be used to procure oxygen concentrators, PPE, telemedicine, training, and support to healthcare workers on the ground. We have been actively helping these organisation transition to post-COVID care activities as well as prepare for the next wave by
- Setting up a Village based Oxygen saturation monitoring systems by providing necessary training and equipment to village volunteers and also equipping them with oxygen concentrators
- Providing nutrition and education to children who have lost one or both parents to the COVID pandemic.
- setting up vaccination clinics
