Hello!
My name is Swati Tiwari and I am the Founder and Artistic Director of Boston Bollywood, the largest South Asian dance and production company in the New England area. Bringing people together to create art in any form has always been a passion of mine. In that spirit of growing Boston Bollywood as content creation, incubation, and production house, I want to use our YouTube channel as a platform to showcase content about the South Asian lived experience. Boston Bollywood will provide opportunities to budding filmmakers, writers, and artists of all kinds to tell their authentic stories, providing the physical, human, and financial resources to bring these stories to life. Our motto from the day we launched has been to value all artists by compensating them for their talent and time, and we hope we can continue to act in that truth for years to come.
The funds collected will be used for hiring the following roles for various projects:
1. Writer/Screenplay Writer/Director
2. Actors
3. Videographers/Cinematographers
4. Video Editors
5. Sound Engineers
6. Lighting Engineers
7. On-Set Crew
8. Social Media and Marketing Managers
9. Promotional artists
10. Choreographers/Dancers
Each project is different. Hence, it's hard to quantify how much each artist will be compensated. In our experience producing dance and music video projects, producing one minute of final quality footage costs approximately $250.
Our biggest constraint right now is funding. When Boston Bollywood was running solely as a dance company, we had revenue coming in from stage productions, workshops, and classes The Covid-19 pandemic put a tremendous halt on our momentum. While we do have some reserves, these will slowly disappear, as all artists are facing insurmountable challenges in creating new income streams and keeping their communities together.

We understand that 2020 created huge challenges for everyone and there are many organizations who need funding more than ever.
