Bo’s Battle: Help Him Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Hi - for those that may not know us, our names are Nancy and Cory, and we are so lucky to be Bo's parents. Bo is our 80lb Bernedoodle that we've had the joy of loving for 6 and a half years now. He is our first baby - our world.

Many of you may know Bo, whether you've run into him on our usual walking routes where he makes sure to stop and say hi, or from daycare, or the groomers, or our friend group, or previous places of employment...the list goes on. Regardless of how you know Bo, we are sure you have a story or memory about him. He loves to welcome everyone with more than just open paws...more like his whole body.

We are very sad to say that after suffering from some pretty severe and random nosebleeds a couple of weeks ago, Bo has been put through the ringer at the emergency vet. Last week, we were told that he has multiple myeloma, a very aggressive cancer. It's come on hard and fast and has completely caught us off guard, putting us into shock. We have been told that without treatment, Bo is looking at a few weeks. With chemo treatment, there's hope and a possibility that he could live for another 1 to 2 years. Of course, we aren't ready to say goodbye. We need Bo for as long as possible. He's our everything. Without him, our home is no longer a home.

As some of you may know, we recently had a baby named Leroy. He's now almost six months old. This means that I'm not working and we're operating on a single self-employed income, which was already hard to begin with. Only a month ago, I turned to Cory and said, "This is everything I've ever wanted—Bo and Leroy." My family felt complete. And now my heart aches knowing that there's a chance Leroy won't get to know Bo and that our family will be missing a huge piece of the puzzle.

All this to say, we are already facing financial stress after having to do multiple blood tests, a CT scan, a bone marrow test, many overnight stays at emerg, medications, and much more. We're about halfway through the medical costs that are coming our way. Next week, Bo will hopefully be able to start chemo, and we will then be facing those costs as well. Overall, we're facing about $30,000 of medical bills. But of course, to not go through with this is not an option for us. We will do anything and everything for Bo. Which is why we need your help.

If you're able to donate, we thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. You have no idea how much this will mean to us. If you're not able to donate, we completely understand, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could share this with your networks in hopes that we're able to reach more potential donors. Anything truly helps.

Lastly, if we don't end up using all of the funds that we're able to raise, we promise to donate those funds to a related animal charity or cause.

We are so very thankful for the amazing staff at the Guardian Veterinary Centre who have helped Bo thus far, especially Dr. Tam. They have gotten to know Bo over the last little bit as well, and have shared how he seems to have lots to say still!

Give your animals a big hug for us.
Lots of love,
Nancy & Cory
