Bornschein Family - Support Brandi's cancer fight

Donation protected
Pastor John Bornschein knows a little something about prayer. As the former Vice Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, John spent two decades training and equipping volunteers across the United States to call America to prayer. Now, this beloved pastor and his wife, Brandi, find themselves in great need of your prayers.

Brandi has battled cancer for the past 20 years, and recent screenings led her doctors to recommend administering radioactive iodine treatments this past week (week of 7 Jan 19), with test results expected in the next few days. Due to the radioactivity, Brandi has been in near isolation at home during the treatment period, with very limited exposure to family. This past Friday, John shared this raw, heart-wrenching post on Facebook:

I am going to be totally transparent. This has been a very painful week. I have watched my wife suffer day in and day out as doctors with good intentions try to treat her cancer. I am in the hospital with her right now as I write these words. As a husband, all I can do is hold on to Jesus, be strong for her and my children, and find strength in the Word. But I need your prayers. My heart is heavy and I am exhausted. We have a small team of prayer warriors and meal train providers working diligently and though I have tried to keep this close to chest to prevent alarming anyone, I am reaching out for prayer. It goes without question that pain in this life is inevitable, but the Lord is the rock upon which we stand. Please pray for us. I will accept whatever outcome furthers His Kingdom but I need strength to endure. I don’t question Him - but I am struggling feeling powerless to take the pain and suffering from my bride, my beautiful gift from God. I can’t fix this and it hurts so much. I am hurting and that feels selfish when she is the one in physical pain. I have to be strong for many so I am calling on the Prayer Warriors to lift us up. Please.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.” Psalm 28:7

The Board of Elders at John’s church would, first and foremost, ask you to consider praying for God to be glorified through His workings in and through Brandi’s latest health challenge. We would also covet your prayers for John and their children as we wait on God and his providence.

One area where we can have true, meaningful impact for the Bornschein's right now is in alleviating some of their mounting medical expenses and the stress that accompanies those expenses. While John would never consider asking this of anyone, he would be the first to offer assistance, financial or otherwise, to someone else once he became aware of their need. Therefore, his Board of Elders have collaborated to share and publicize their current hardship, providing an opportunity for the Bornscheins’ many friends and admirers to participate in mitigating this financial need.

May God pour out His blessings on John and Brandi through the generous hearts of family, friends, and associates scattered across the country! Thank you for partnering with us to support John and Brandi.
