Supporting Armed Forces & getting my boy to Borneo

Hi, I’m Matt, and from 01st July onwards I’m going to run and walk a 1,336km distance, which is the length of Borneo from top to bottom, to raise funds for two amazing causes:

• The Head-Up Charity, which is the Mental Health Charity for the Armed Forces Community. These guys do a fantastic job teaching and encouraging serving personnel and veterans to take control of their lives through multiple positive daily habits, helping them to lead happier lives.
• My 14 year old son’s working trip to Borneo in 2025, which is entirely self funded, and will see him grafting for 4 weeks, working across the island cleaning plastic from beaches, helping animals such as the orangutans to get back to full health and their natural habitats, planting trees, and building infrastructure to help local communities that need it.

I’ve set myself the challenge of running and walking the 1,336km’s by the end of April 2025, just before my son travels to Borneo. This will include any runs or walks that I do that are in excess of 5km’s in distance (so not just a stroll to the shops!), which will all be recorded so I’m completely accountable for the distance I’ve set myself; keep an eye on my feed and social media posts!

My fundraising target of £3,000 will be split between the two causes, supporting Head-Up Charity with their ambition of building the Head-Up Retreat for serving personnel and veterans, and going towards the costs of my son’s travel to Borneo, which is such an amazing opportunity for him.
