Goodbye, dear friend.

Hi. My name is Erin. I'm the one kissing the big, black, goofy dog in the picture above. (His name is Boris, by the way.) I'm a single mom from the middle of nowhere, near Kearney, NE. The little boy beside me in the picture is Vincent, and the brindle boy he's got with him is named Walker. As a single mother, I find it very hard to get by. Every day is a struggle to make ends meet. Most of the time I'm scrounging to get by with only a few dollars in my pocket. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and knowing that even though I am doing my best, I can’t provide for my three boys the way I think they deserve only makes these conditions worse.

See, my boys, they're special. Boris, well. He's the best hugger, best kisser, ever. Vincent, he's on the Autism spectrum and the amazing directions his mind goes floor me every day. And then there’s Walker. Let me tell you - that poor ol' dog has been thru heck and back again. Somehow, he landed with us. He’s blind, but in spite of that, he’s still somehow so confident and easygoing.

Boris is a lot younger than Walker, and tho the two fuzzy boys often sleep, cuddle, and play together, Boris has a bit of a jealous streak when it comes to me. There's where we've run into a problem. Boris has actually injured Walker, on a couple of occasions, and now I'm left needing to pay back money I borrowed for Walker's medical bills. I've spoken to a behaviorist and gotten some tips and tools, including a gentle head lead, to help with Boris's issues, but Walker recently had a couple of seizures so there might be even more medical bills in his future. I’m already drowning under the weight of my own medical bills and paying them off – so I need your help now. All I want is to keep my family together, safe, healthy, and happy.

I know that I took Walker on when I was already struggling - but he had nowhere else to go, and he didn't deserve to end up in a shelter, alone and scared. Walker's already been thru so very much, including abuse and neglect before he came to us, and I am not going to give up on him or Boris. All I want for my three kids (Yes, I consider Boris and Walker my kids!) is to do right by all of them. If you want to know more about our little family, please, don't hesitate to ask!
