Border to Brid Walk for Guide Dogs (245 Miles)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrew from Travelling Blind.
Four and a half years ago, during vascular surgery, the unexpected happened and I was left with no colon, no spleen and, more importantly, total loss of sight.
Since then I, with the aid of my wife Rebecca, have been taking on various challenges to support Guide Dogs UK. I don't have a dog myself but I suppose I, more than most, realise how life would be without my wife to support me and not have a guide dog available.
In 2022 I became the first blind man to walk the Wolds Way (79 miles) and in 2023 the Cleveland Way (110 miles) and we have so far raised around £17000 for Guide Dogs UK.
This year is my biggest yet. I shall be walking on the King Charles III Coast Path from Berwick Upon Tweed south to Bridlington (245 miles) from 9th to 29th September inclusive.
We have so far secured sponsorship for 14 nights accommodation of the 21 nights required, but are still looking for funding for the other nights. Other bits and pieces like food, drinks and energy bars will also be needed.
I will need the help of 63 volunteer guides during this walk (3 per day) and they would well deserve the odd cup of tea and cake for their efforts.
If you can help with any donation, large or small, I would be eternally grateful.
We expect to make a further £10000 for Guide Dogs UK during this event.
Please feel free to contact me if you feel you can help in any other way.
Many thanks,
Andrew
