On Sunday, June 26th...Axl, our Border Collie, baby, member of our family, and much more, was in a tragic accident. Axl was hit by a truck and unfortunately didn't make it. It is like loosing a child and was absolutely crushing. He was only a few months younger than our 7 year old son...they grew up together from the beginning of both of their lives.
We thought about what to do next... At first, we were planning on waiting a while, as we didn't think we were ready for another dog. Then we realized how empty and lonely our home feels.
Just out of curiosity, we went and visited a very responsible, reputable, and experienced Border Collie breeder. One of the dogs who has a litter due at the beginning of August, came up to Jennie...laid a ball at her feet...backed up and stared...just waiting for Jennie to play with her. Axl used to do the same exact thing. We instantly fell in love with this mother dog and knew that we wanted a pup from her litter.
I know it's a lot to ask for...but, Jennie being an artist/cartoonist, offered to create a custom drawing of your pet for anyone who donates no matter how large or small. If you are someone local, we will also offer photo shoots (people or animals!) as we are professional photographers. It would mean the world to Jennie, our son, and myself if you donate and receive a custom piece of art in return. It will help our family feel somewhat whole again, although Axl is irreplaceable.
