Borchert Medical Fund

On January 18th, Kyle (Concordia Class of 2000) and Julie Borchert had life throw a curveball at them. After being on bed rest, Julia was rushed to the hospital after her water broke and she gave birth to their daughter a few days later. Their little girl, Nora, was born at 25 weeks and has already been through so much in her first few weeks. For all children born prematurely there is a stressful and emotional waiting game as you watch your child face each challenge. Things were going well until an ultrasound showed brain bleeding. The long-term prognosis can’t be determined but the bleeding moves Nora into a much higher risk for major complications.

The damage from the brain bleed has been done and they won’t know for quite some time what the effects of it are. Doctors have encouraged Kyle and Julie to keep the faith, as babies’ brains are remarkable in how they handle things like this. The family will have to wait 6-9 months to determine if the damage is minor or resulted in something more severe.

There are programs that will help the Borchert family with finances throughout this journey with Nora while still taking care of the needs of their 4 other beautiful children. However, it is my hope that friends and family can help to make sure that finances are the least of their concern right now. The goal has been set to try to raise $5,000 for this family but it would be great to blow by that amount. Please share this page with anyone that might want to help them out.
