Boots’s Life Saving Treatment
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Autumn Coneybeare and this is my sweet baby boy Boots. This past Sunday evening I came home to find my normally very chatty, playful and very food motivated boy curled up in a puddle of his own urine. His food was untouched and he wouldn’t even stand up to greet me when I came in the door like he normally does. I gave him a bath to help clean the urine off of him and that is when I noticed there was blood in his urine. I immediately rushed him to the emergency vet, where they did a urine test and an ultrasound. The vet told me that his bladder was extremely inflamed and there were crystals in his urine. She described it as a snow globe as they were very tiny and weren’t seeming to cause any blockage. They prescribed him metacam and gabapentin and a urinary kibble and sent us home. Over the last 3 days, Boots has not improved whatsoever. He keeps constantly urinating on himself as he doesn’t even realize that he’s doing it, he still refuses to eat much other than little bits of purée tubes, and he won’t even walk a couple feet to use his litter box. I took him into our regular vet today where they did bloodwork and the results were alarming. He’s extremely dehydrated, causing severe kidney function, his potassium levels are very high, and they’re thinking there may be a stone in his urethra causing the damage. Our vet told us she was not comfortable sending us home as she was certain he would not make it more than 12 hours without treatment. We rushed back over to the emergency vet where they put him on iv fluids and inserted a catheter.
This all came out of nowhere and I am at my wits end. Please help me save my boy. He is only 3 years old and I’m not sure what I would do without him. It already feels strange not having him in my apartment. He is at the emergency vet until they close at midnight tonight, so I have until then to come up with the funds. They are going to give me an update around 9pm to see if he needs to stay hospitalized over night.
The estimate I was given at the emergency vet could be anywhere between $660-$1200. I just want to save my sweet baby. I am an absolute wreck right now.
I sincerely appreciate any help received and wish I can give a big hug to anyone who finds it in their heart to donate
