Boot The Ute(rus) - Hysterectomy For Mac
Donation protected
Hey friends! Mac here, though some of you also know me as Molly.
I'm raising funds to help offset medical costs surrounding an upcoming procedure. In medical terms, at the end of February I will undergo a bilateral salpingectomy and a partial hysterectomy. Translated, that means that I am having my fallopian tubes and uterus removed (while leaving my ovaries intact so that I don't experience early menopause).
My reasons for undergoing this procedure are several, but here are the big ones: 1) I have had extremely painful and life-disrupting menstrual cycles since I was 15. This path is my doctor's suggestion for the best, long-term solution for this problem. 2) It's cervical cancer prevention! Can't have cancer in an organ you don't have any more. 3) Given the uncertain future of access to this level of care, I feel it is important to do it sooner rather than later. Additionally, having this procedure done at this age gives me the best chance of healing and full recovery as quickly as possible.
In summary, my uterus has caused me nothing but trouble and I want it gone! And so I am asking you, my wonderful community of loved ones, to offer support as you are able (and within your means). The funds raised through this platform will offset costs and expenses of pursuing this care, including surgery bills, medication, and lost wages during recovery. Please reach out directly if you have a different preferred donation method.
If you are unable to support through monetary means at this time, then there are other ways to lend aid! I'll need prepped food since I won't be able to stand or lift heavy things for a few weeks, and I will need general help with daily chores (again, no lifting things and standing/walking will be painful for a couple weeks). And as we know, I am a social creature and will greatly appreciate the company of friends at home while I recover. If you're able to show up in these ways, thank you and shoot me a message to coordinate!
I am infinitely grateful for my community in the ways that y'all have supported myself and others through the years, and I am grateful for any and all support in this particular endeavor.
