Hi, my name is Chrizia Dela Rosa and I will be going into my 12th year teaching.
I feel a little ashamed of having to do this, but as a teacher, I swallow my pride and ask for help to get the best resources, tools, and experiences for my students.
One of the things I love about my job is being able to connect with kiddos and help them find success, confidence, and fun with math. For the past 5 years, I have been teaching a program called the 9th-grade transition program where I not only focus on math & financial literacy but also on social-emotional learning, along with yoga & mindfulness.
I am trying to raise to replace my iPad. The last upgrade was in 2020 (which I fundraised for), and as you know, technology is constantly updating and can get outdated fast. I use my iPad every day with teaching as I mirror my screen for students with guided notes. Students benefit from me being able to write the notes on the iPad and project it on the screen while also moving around and not having to be stuck at a desk, like I used with a doc cam. I use it to create engaging math videos for my students, as well as students use it when creating graphics/presentations so they can practice public speaking. Not only do I use this for teaching, but I also use it after school for coaching volleyball for the girls’ program at the school. It functions as a whiteboard/clipboard, scoreboard, stats collection, or even a video recorder for practices/games so the girls can see where they can improve.
My goal is to raise $4,000 in total for an iPad Pro, pencil, keyboard plus the fees gofundme takes. As well as I am trying to gather lamps, lights, organizing trays for paper, pens, toner and snacks for my classroom. My goal is to create a warm and inviting environment for the kiddos. Lamps and lights so we don’t have to rely on the bright fluorescent lights. Organizing trays for students papers for turning in work and different papers they use in class. Pens as a part of their welcome kit — love how they will be able to erase their mistakes and color code notes. Toner for our class printer. Lastly, snacks for student because their brain needs energy to process all the new things they are learning at school. Studies have shown a correlation that improved nutrition is linked to an increase in brain function.
