Boo's Medical Emergency: she needs a splenectomy!
Donation protected
Many of you know (and love!) Boo dog, and have watched her grow with me for the 10+ years I’ve now had her. This past December, Boo got into some Xmas candy and (on top vomiting) she was in such extreme discomfort that she was trembling and had to go to the emergency vet. The vet treated her for her pain & nausea, and at Boo’s annual exam a few weeks later, her fanclub at the regular vet raised concern about her stomach being abnormally distended. She was given an x-ray, where they observed a large mass on her spleen. She had an ultrasound the next day which found that, luckily, the mass was not cancerous.
Although Boo doesn’t need cancer treatment, she is still at risk of her spleen rupturing. Removing the mass would be completely curative, and is the only course of treatment. In light of the thousands of dollars so far owed for the vet visits and imaging, the splenectomy is cost-prohibitive without asking for help from friends and the community.
You may know that I am still paying to take classes to support my teaching license, which has been a significant expense out of pocket for the past few years. I should be finished with that program this summer! However, Boo's medical needs are making that ongoing expense even more stressful.
Help Boo get the surgery she urgently needs! Please donate if you have the means and share on social media. I’m not on most social media platforms so my reach is not very wide. Any little bit helps
